C’est à Montréal! (aka: Montréal through my lens)

A foreign country, another language, a unique culture, less than two hours from New York City, Montreal is a must-see city: charming, romantic, beautiful and diverse, and made for a photographer. My camera fell in love with Montreal. It’s Canada’s second-largest city, with 4 million people in the metro area, but very accessible. Originally called Ville-Marie, or “City of Mary,” the city takes its name from Mont-Royal, the triple-peaked hill located in the heart of the city. The park atop those hills was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, who went on to design Central Park in New York. French is the official language of the city and is spoken in 67.9% of homes, which is the second largest primarily French-speaking city in the world after Paris. The unofficial dish is Poutine, french fries and fresh cheese curds covered in brown gravy.
