For David and Susan Posner, the secret to 40 years of happy marriage is simple, they said: You have to be best friends. And laugh. A lot.
To commemorate her parents’ anniversary, my friend and neighbor Stacy hired me to take pictures of her entire family so Lauren, her sister-in-law, could put together a special photo book commemorating this ruby milestone. I was immediately crazy about David and Susan. They are as kind and warm as they look in these photos, and they were thrilled to be celebrating with their family: Stacy, her husband, Jed, and their one-year-old daughter, Hazel, and their son, Mark, Lauren, and their six-week-old baby girl, Roxanne. The proud grandparents reflected that just one year ago, they had no grandchildren, and now they are fortunate enough to have two!
They shared with me the story of their fateful meeting and their 40 years of being best friends. In 1971, they were set up on a blind date by David’s sister and her cousin. The went to see the movie Carnal Knowledge, and that night Cupid’s arrow struck. Two months later, they were engaged. Forty years have flown by, and it’s clear to see the love that the Posners passed down to their kids and now to their grandchildren. Here’s to David and Susan: May their next decade together be the most joyful, laughter-filled chapter yet in their love story.

Dearest cousins,
We are so proud to have played a small, however, very important part in your 40 year relationship.
The photographs of you and your recently expanded family are very special.
Mazel-Tov on your ruby anniversary to our cousins whom are also best friends to each other.
Last month, we celebrated our golden anniversary which we achieved through habit.
Love to all,
