With July 4th falling on a Wednesday, the Morgan family was lucky enough to celebrate Independence Day twice! The first celebration took place at my parents’ house on Lake Hopatcong on Friday, June 29th, where my brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Joanna, and their kids, Michael and Madelyn, gathered with many of their friends to watch the annual fireworks over the lake. In addition to the town’s display, Michael and Joanna had purchased sparklers and some small fireworks during a recent trip to Pennsylvania. Once the sun set, we created our own show on the dock. While not as spectacular as the Macy’s Fireworks display over the Hudson River, which we witnessed during our second Independence Day celebration on July 4th in Hoboken, Michael’s show was terrific, and the audience was even more appreciative. Maybe it was the beer or the sangria or all of that food? Regardless, two sets of fireworks and two celebrations made the Fourth of July 2012 twice as nice.
